Outreach / Community Development

Mugie is working hard to drive sustainable development and get
the local community involved and invested, in creating a healthy future for Kenya.

In collaboration with Mugie Conservancy, The Moyo Foundation seeks to further sustainable development and community engagement, pursuing a brighter future through health, education, and conservation projects. Mugie, Ekorian, and Moyo work together to facilitate mobile healthcare clinics that deliver much needed medical services to remote communities.

These mobile clinics are supplied with medicines as well as Mugie’s nurse and two volunteer assistants. Currently, Moyo is fundraising to purchase its own vehicle, allowing it to expand services – going further and doing more.

The Moyo Foundation also sponsors several students through their education, two of whom are at the Mugie School. To learn more about Moyo and its projects, please visit www.themoyofoundation.org.

Mugie is a supporting partner in the Laikipia Rabies Campaign, a program working to eradicate Rabies in Laikipia county, and recently helped to vaccinate 93 cats and dogs around Mugie.

We are dedicated to helping our neighbours develop sustainable farming methods and business practices. Mugie acts as the secretariat for the Mugie SACCO (a local co-operative is known in Kenya as a SACCO) – bringing together people from different nearby tribal communities – Pokot, Samburu, etc.

Having assisted in the set-up of this cooperative, we continue to mentor its members in business practices in order to encourage the growth of local economy.
