Community Support
We integrate community conservation education into various aspects of life within the conservancy. From schools to outreach health clinics, and among our employees, we encourage environmental stewardship at every level. A weekly mandatory litter cleanup across all departments at Mugie keeps the conservancy looking pristine, while also teaching the importance of waste management. This initiative encourages people to think critically about the impact of litter on the environment and reinforces the message of responsible waste disposal.
To further our environmental responsibility, Mugie has banned single-use plastics in its canteen and promotes the use of reusable water bottles and bags. These simple steps are part of a broader goal to create a lasting cultural shift toward sustainability.
Human-wildlife conflict remains one of the greatest threats to Africa’s wildlife, especially for carnivores, which are often killed in retaliation for livestock losses. As human populations grow and urban sprawl encroaches on wildlife habitats, educating local communities about the importance of coexistence is essential. By increasing awareness and providing practical solutions, we aim to reduce the negative impacts of these conflicts on both wildlife and people.
