The Mugie Triathlon

On the 20th and 21st of October we held the Mugie Duathlon and Triathlon, an extraordinary weekend that focused on the conservation of wildlife and their habitat. We were thrilled to raise funds toward cheetah protection and wildlife awareness education, to mitigate the human-wildlife conflict. But conscious that the battle for conservation is intertwined with healthcare and increasingly challenged by a burgeoning population and urban expansion, we were exceptionally grateful for a generous contribution to our women’s outreach health clinics which deliver women’s healthcare and family planning to rural communities. It was a fantastic weekend of socializing with neighbors, near and far – we even had folks from England, South Africa, and Australia! Delicious food was catered by Lime Catering, who truly out-did themselves, and Mugie provided a breathtaking setting – where else can you run and bicycle past zebra and gazelles?!

Sirimon Thomas had an outstanding, and record-setting victory in the individual race. Winners of the team race were Nancy Balfour, Mike Thomas, and Alistair Niven. And after the full triathlon we held two children’s races – a mini-triathlon for children from 10 to 13, and for the ‘littles’, a swim, bike, and obstacle course (kudos to Rory Singh for building a fantastic course). The first-place winner of the “Big Kids’ Race” was Milo Lankester and Kiara Perrett won the “Little Kids’ Race”. A lovely afternoon of celebration (complete with a bouncy castle for the kids) was had by all, over a beautiful curry lunch from Lime.
